Time in ANY of these countries counts toward a single shared 90-day limit. There is no separate allowance per country.
Non-EU Schengen members: Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland.
Recent changes
Bulgaria & Romania
Both became full Schengen members on January 1, 2025, including land borders. Time spent in either country now counts toward the 90/180-day limit.
European countries NOT in Schengen
Time spent in non-Schengen European countries (e.g. Cyprus, Ireland, United Kingdom, Albania, Montenegro, Turkey) does NOT count toward the Schengen 90-day limit. Each has its own entry requirements.
Schengen is not the same as the EU
Four non-EU countries are in Schengen (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland). Two EU countries are NOT in Schengen (Cyprus, Ireland).
